For this blog post, I had to analyze 2 poster advertisements for GAP. In the first one, it shows a little boy and the text says "The Little Scholar." He is wearing clothing with Albert Einstein on it with "nice" clothing as to say that he will be an important figure in the future. In the second, it shows a little girl and the text says "The Social Butterfly." She is wearing clothing that some people would say would make you seem popular. It seems as though they are stereotyping both genders saying that the boy is smart and will do scholarly things while the girls wants to be noticed and popular. This does kind of make me view GAP in a different way. They are saying that men must be smarter than girls in a way. It feels like they are saying that girls may just be pretty faces while men will be out there getting things done. Happiness is a very important thing in everyone's lives. Things that make me happy are watching shows that I love, reading a nice little story, performing in a production, and the people around me that care about me. I also like to sometimes be alone, so that will make me happy sometimes. I am happiest when I am able to do some of the things I want alone when I feel like it. I am also happiest when I have my best friends around me. For homework, we had looked at a thing that was a happiness index and it showed the places that were the happiest and the places that were not so happy. I think that it is a good thing to know because it just shows what you may be able to contribute to your country or even another so that you can make the place more cheerful. My name is Paige and in class, we were told to find two different advertisements and analyze them. Here are the ones that I chose and what I found out about them when analyzing them. For my first advertisement, I chose an old one for a product called "I Can't Believe It’s Not Butter Spray." The commercial is set in a fantasy world of the lady in the beginning. It is colorful with bright colors and there is an attractive man waiting for her. Soon they talk about the product as if it is just too good to be true. The narrator sets it up to be in this fantasy world and then the woman becomes fascinated with this product like it is the most amazing this in the world. Hello. My name is Paige and I am a Junior at West Sound Academy. In my life, media has been a pretty big part of it. I am on social media sometimes to see what others are doing and I go on the internet to look at images, look something up, read online stories, and watch funny videos. In class, we viewed three commercial clips. All of them had to do with beauty products. All of them (except for one) had to do with defining who you were and that you should just be you. No one else could define you. Those were the messages that they were trying to get across to many women saying that these products will make you look and feel better about yourself.
